Two New DNA Samples Join the Pemberton DNA Project

February 9, 2014 – With the purchase of a second DNA test in as many weeks, the Pemberton DNA Project is growing again. We will soon have 15 samples at Family Tree DNA (FTDNA), our host company. We hope that although Ancestry is promoting their own DNA testing, that Pembertons will stay with the Pemberton DNA Project at FTDNA. Ancestry’s DNA test is not a Y-DNA test so it doesn’t provide the same depth of detail for surname tracking. The PFWW chose FTDNA to host its project after careful research. Its DNA data base is many times larger than the next smaller one, their prices are competitive and their tests reliable. The PFWW stands ready to offer financial assistance to anyone so as to make the test within the Pemberton DNA Project as affordable as any other Y-DNA test of about 37 markers. For more info about the Pemberton DNA Project, look for it in the green Genealogy menu on the left of the webpage.
