Free Permanent E-mail Address
All you have to do to get a permanent e-mail address is contact the webmaster at pembertonfamily.com and ask for one. He will set up the address you agree on and forward all the mail sent to that permanent address to your current local address (probably at your current Internet Service Provider (ISP). When you move, just contact the webmaster and have the forwarding address changed to your new local address. NOTICE! Only the permanent part of this service is free, you should not stop your current e-mail account. Mail directed to your new pembertonfamily.com address will be forwarded there. When you first use this service you will be certifying that you have read, understood, and agreed to the Terms of E-mail Service.
When you e-mail the webmaster, send a list of a few choices of names with your first choice at the top. If that name is still available, you will have it. Just send the list to the webmaster@pembertonfamily.com. Be sure to include the address to which you want your e-mail forwarded.
Double forwarding is also available. If you would like mail sent to your pembertonfamily.com address forwarded to two or even three e-mail addresses, just ask for it. Copies of your mail will be forwarded to both addresses; maybe one at home and another at work.
You may also want to set up an e-mail address for other members of the household so they can have their own e-mail address without having to purchase multiple accounts from your Internet Service Provider (ISP). This kind of mail splitting is probably available to you, if your e-mail software supports multiple mailboxes and filters. Splitting allows you to set up a different e-mail address for each member of your household and when you get your mail, it is automatically routed to the mailboxes you have set up for each person. Here's how you do it:1. Do not stop all the e-mail service you currently have: keep one account, but first -
2. First determine whether your e-mail software will support multiple mailboxes and filters. Check the user manual or browse through the menus of your e-mail application looking for a way to create more mailboxes. They usually have a default "Inbox" but you want to add a mailbox for Jim and one for Jenny. Now look for a way to have incoming mail routed to those mailboxes. Look for "Filters" or "Routing" or something with a similar meaning and see if you can have your software check the e-mail address of incoming mail and route to these new mail boxes based on whether the mail address is jim@ or jenny@. If you can do this, you can set up automatic routing to your mailboxes.
2. Set up a forwarding address at pembertonfamily.com for each person for whom you want to have a mail box.
3. When the webmaster notifies you that your new forwarding is set up, send some test messages to all the new names and then check your mail. The incoming messages should be automatically routed to the mail boxes you have established.
If you ever want to stop the service, just let the webmaster know.
